Campaign for Clear Face Masks

#KeepItClear – Campaign for Clear Face Masks!

Surgeons, Super Heroes, Fancy Dress Costumes…

Until a few months ago, we thought of face masks as something doctors might wear, or something we put on to go to a Halloween party – not something we would wear to get on a bus, or go to the shops. Now more and more people are wearing face masks in public to keep themselves and others safe. In some parts of the UK – like in England – you must wear a face mask when you use public transport.

So what’s the problem?

We know that lots of deaf people are especially worried about being able to lip-read, or see the facial expressions used in British Sign Language.

We think that clear face masks should be the norm in public places, to make it easier for everyone to communicate!

What can I do?

Are you handy with a sewing machine, or is anyone else in your family? If so, it’s time to get crafty!

You can use our Face Mask Action Pack to create a clear mask for yourself and one for your elected representative. In our Pack we’ve got some ideas of how you can raise awareness of this campaign – we would love to hear your ideas too!

Email us at cyp@ndcs.org.uk if you’ve got any questions, or if you have ideas you would like to share with us!
