Become a pen pal

Would you like to make a new friend?

What is a pen pal?

Our Pen Pals Project is a fun and exciting way for you to get to know another deaf young person!

You will be matched with a pen pal who is around the same age as you and send letters or videos to each other.

How do I chat to my pen pal?

You can write letters or record videos in British Sign Language (BSL) for your pen pal.

Taking part in the project is a great way to feel more confident, get to know someone new and make a friend who is deaf too!

How long does it last?

We will help you to write and send letters or videos with your pen pal for 10 weeks. After that, you will have a chance to keep in touch with them once the project has finished.

Who can take part?

You can take part if you are:

  • Deaf
  • Aged 8-18

How do I apply?

If you would like to take part, ask your parent or carer to complete an application form.

Your application needs to be completed by Monday 8 February 2021.
